LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Magellan, the fastest-growing GPS brand in the world, today unveils its complete line of second-generation Maestro™ portable vehicle navigation devices at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association (SEMA) event in Las Vegas. Magellan's new Maestro 4200 and Maestro 3200 series of GPS navigation devices deliver a streamlined look and feel in the thinnest package in the industry; at just 17.8mm thick, the sleek new industrial design is small enough to carry in a pocket. Both series offer a wide range of features and price points, and they are the only GPS navigation devices to integrate AAA TourBook® travel information.
At the SEMA Show, the complete Maestro 3200 and 4200 series will be demonstrated together for the first time, providing an opportunity for retailers and consumers to get their hands on Magellan's complete Fall 2007 lineup.
"In addition to portability, our new Maestro lineup includes features and price points designed to accommodate every type of driver and budget. From frequent travelers who need full-featured devices in the smallest possible package to busy parents who are shuttling their children around each day and can benefit from widescreen products with enhanced points of interest, everyone can find a Maestro device to meet their specific needs," said Christian Bubenheim, vice president of product marketing for Magellan. "We believe that Magellan GPS units will be among the best-selling electronic gifts this holiday season."
Additionally, Magellan is introducing the new RoadMate® 1200 portable vehicle navigation device. With an attractive retail price of just $229.00, the Magellan RoadMate 1200 pairs the slim industrial design of the Maestro series together with "turn it on and go" auto navigation functionality.
Magellan auto navigation products can be seen at Magellan's booth #11242, located in the mobile electronics area. Magellan products can be found at more than 40 booths through the show, including NavTeq, Dragon Aftermarket Consulting (2007 Yukon XL) #24029, RCH Design (2008 Chevy) #23559, as well as in the ProMotorsports (2008 Hummer H2), which will be displayed outside of the South Hall entrance and can also be seen at the Hard Rock party on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The two devices are the Maestro 3200 and Maestro 4200. Both of these new GPS devices integrate into AAA TourBook travel information, and are the only GPS devices to do so.
The Maestro 4200 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, pre-loaded US maps, 1.3 million points of interest and interactive point-of-interest icons. Another nice feature is SmartDetour, which routed you around sudden slowdowns in traffic.
The 3200 has a 3.5-inch QVGA touch screen and pre-loaded maps of the US. This device lacks the SmartDetour feature, but uses the same SiRF starIII chipset as the 4200. The Maestro 3200 sells for $269.99 and the 4200 varies with the retail location you buy it at.
has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and the top of the line SiRF Star III GPS chipset. There is also a rechargeable battery and maps pre-programmed for the all the US except Alaska and Puerto Rico.
Its thin too, thinner than the Maestro 3200. I have to admit, I didn't know thickness was an issue with GPS units, I mean last I looked TomTom GPS units were one of the top selling units around and they are fat as hell compared to most other navigation units.
Regardless, rumor is, this model was kind of made for release on Black Friday. If that were the case, it would probably do well on that day with an attractive look, a fairly well known brand name and a $230 or less price tag. If you are in a real hurry you can get it now on Amazon for $230, but if I had to guess, it'll probably get cheaper by Black Friday.
